Why climate justice must put women at the centre

In the Congo Basin, women are both especially exposed to climate disruption and essential to lasting solutions.

The climate crisis is not gender-neutral. In many Congo Basin communities, women play an essential role in food production, water management and the transmission of local knowledge. When seasons become unpredictable or resources grow scarce, their daily lives are directly affected.

Making women decision-makers

For SOFFLECO, a just response begins with listening. Women must take part in the decisions that affect their land, livelihoods and communities. This is why we combine awareness, capacity building, advocacy and community-led projects.

Protecting the Congo Basin also means recognising the leadership of the women who sustain it every day.

By supporting women’s leadership, we build solutions that are more grounded, more equitable and more durable.
